I Like Your Nod(s)
A few updates... First, the Umbros have a few shows coming up at Mojo's on February 6 and February 10. Check out the shows page for more details.
Second, cast your nominations for Ragtag's Corky Awards here. Among the possible nominations for Best Live Event are several Cat Jams shows. Also, Aron Cho's GOOD MOVIE can be nominated for several awards.
Lastly, congratulations to Mahjongg for making the top 300 in the Village Voice's Pazz and Jop Awards. They placed higher than a plethora of artists, including Sheryl Crow. I hope it makes them happy...so they can leave Las Vegas...and soak up the sun.

golden qu'ral
Okay so:
Illusion Christmas Overdrive was a huge success. Five shows, five days, five jamlaborators, five original paintings! One gallery showing, one Yokohaman dude, one city visited in the entirety of the Americas, two new CDs (one of Hiro's acoustic jams, and the one live-burned-and-painted mystery CD). Eventually I'll get the audio from all the shows up for public consumption, but for the time being, here's a nice article about the shows. We had a fantastic turnout for the final show at Ragtag; thanks for everyone who came out, who helped (Apop Records, Ian Cogneato), who performed (J&tSBs!), who did audio (Chris Keener), who lent a computer (Sarb). And thanks to Trypmaker, Gia, Umbros, Flowers, & Cave for making the previous nights come alive. It will be difficult to top Illusion Christmas Overdrive in ambition alone, and I may do the smart thing and retire at the top of my game. I'm working on getting a DVD together of the video from all the shows. If you are a Chicagoan film student named Nathan who did some impromptu videowork at the fourth show, get in touch with me already.
Other events: Obelisk performed at Apop Records on the 16th with Squidbotz and Juiceboxxx. I have video from the show. MC Cat Genius made a surprise appearance and screwed up only several times.
The new Cat Jams intern has been named, and I named him: Chris Boeckmann AKA Tape Store AKA the Columbia Tribune's youngest columnist! Look for him to be doing things like making the Cat Jams site actually work. Wow.
James Harvey's site is back up and running thanks to me. viola!
A new album is in the works -- a 99-track, single-CD collaboration between Bob Dynamite and Tape Store, whose sum age is 30. And will hopefully not increase integerally before the CD is actually released. MC Cat Genius is contributing a track to a secret project by Toog. Momus mentioned it so I guess I can too. Channing is working on an Obelisk street tape. Umbros has some shows coming up. Maybe that's it for now? Hopefully now that Chris is on board, updates will happen more than once every space year.
